Tenterfield

Day 1 We arrived at Tenterfield and after a visit to the hospital for a sore liver…..testss to continue when home, We set up camp and then

We visited

Henry Parkes museum a senator for Tenterfield and had a lot to do with Federation.

The Cork tree planted in 1861 and was huge and felt like cork.

Past the Tenterfield sadlery made famous by Peter Allan from this area and sung the song Tennacy saddler, we went in side later when open.

Drove past lots of hertiage building and then to the railway museum, which had lots of different displays including one train that had seperate spaces for animals and coffins.

Mt MacKenzie lookout plus the scenic drive with amazing scenes of granite rock formations and farmland.

Day 2 Tenterfield

A drive to

1/ Tunderbolts hide out , we only got to area where he hid his horses the rest to much rock clambering.

2/WW2 tank traps wooden posts put in place in thunderbolts gully to prevents Japanese tanks moving south. They were never used fortunately.

3/ Bald Rock

The rock rose up 220 mill yrs ago it is the largest granite dome monolith. We only walked to the base .

4/ Boonoo Boonoo national park and falls and rock pools.

The water from here flows to the Clarence river and Yamba.

The falls are 210 m high. Banjo Patterson proposed to his wife here,he was from Tenterfield.

5/ Platypus pool where we think we saw something swimming but it was too quick to disappear and the water too dirty.
