Glen Innes and onto Guyra then Armidale and Tamworth.
We only drove through Glen Innes stopping at the
Australia stones 38 stones assembled in 1992 as a memorial to Celtic people and seeing some lovely old church buildings.


then down the New England Hwy past Bluff rock

Into Guyra for a drive around and lunch , choosing not to stop at the lagoon overnight and drove onto to Armidale.
Armidale
Day 1 afternoon
A drive around the town past the old buildings and church and out to the Uni.
Day 2 The waterfall way drive
Armidale to Ebor.
Ebor falls emerged from a deep molten lair 19 million years age. The top falls are 27 m high , the lower falls 63 m and flow over previous lava flows now basalt rock.


The valley of the Guy Fawkes river gorge is part of the clarence river catchment and 240 million year old crack, known as the demon fault line.

The point lookout.
We drove the 15 kms out on a dirt road , got to lookout and the cloud came in and the view wasn’t great plus the temperature dropped to 10 degrees. the lichen growing on the fences and rocks in abundance.



Trout Hatchery.
Produces 4:5 mill trout per year which are released into dams and rivers for recreational fishing.We learnt a lot about goldfish bullrouts and trout and feed the different size trout getting quiet wet at times.We also brought same smoked trout and dip to try.
Wollomombi falls.
220 m high Audlstralias second highest single drop waterfall , largest in NSW situated in the Oxley Wild Rivers national park.


We spent so long at the trout hatchery we decided to finish the Waterfall way sights tomorrow.

First stop was a drive to Gara gorge but decided not to do the lookout 5:5 kms and steep sections. The blue water picnic area was on the Gara river

Metz gorge lookout
The town of Metz previous a gold mining town no longer exists except a few private houses then drove to the lookout.
This over lookout the valley and bakers creek gold mine 1887 closed opened several times and a now reopening 25/26 and a hairy new road was seen across the ridge doing down to the where the new gold mine will be.


Hillgrove
A previous golf mining town est 1884.
Some old houses and museum ( not open) left here but signs tell you where everything used to be was interesting.
The old iron fallen down shed was the blacksmiths shop.
A old house with a reno starting , a church and lots of low cost houses bring either built or old ones being utilised.




The afternoon shopping and doing blogs.
Uralla
A look around town and sighted Thunderbolts grave.He was shot dead here by a policeman who said Surrender or i’ll shoot and Thunderbolt said he’d rather be dead than captured….so shot he was here in Uralla age 35.
Tamworth
After setting up at the showground we drove onto town to the info centre and saw the Guitar and wax museum of country music singers,








Then up to the Oxley lookout to see a great view over the town with so many Jacarandas

Day 2 A day trip to Nundle
First stop Chaffey dam built 1979 and upgraded 2015.


In Nundle we visited the Woolen mill


The gold mine was closed
Hanging rock lookout


Sheba dam

and back down the steep hairpin bends for lunch at the Nundle pub before returning to Tamworth.
A stroll along Peel street, a coffee and seeing the bronze statues of John Williamson, Slim dusty and Smokey Dawson.



Day 3
a quiet day with a walk in Bicentennial park in the morning and a look at the Peel river that runs through Tamworth.




We head to Kriztinas , see the twins and check out more campervans in our quest to go small and sell the van and car …….. , then HOME. Till the next journey.
