2026 Local shakedown trip to Comboyne with the new campervan.

We drove up the mountain to Comboyne stopping for lunch at the Udder cow cafe and a look around the community centre. Next we took a drive down Ponsfords Rd for a scenic view

then into the showground at Comboyne for overnight. The facilities , showers and toilets in great condition.

The night got cool, a blanket required.

Day 2 We drove out to Ellenborough Falls , a 200 m drop into the gorge in the Bulga forest, where cedar was cut from the plateau until1910 in very difficult conditions. We viewed the falls from near the car park and from the other side, the Knoll, a 750 m walk both ways. We didn’t do the 600 plus steps to the bottom of the falls.

Next we took Rapids road to see the rapids but didn’t swim, the rapids go for 200m.

then after attempting some shitty roads to find our campground at Dingo Tops we doubled back and headed into Tapin Tops state forest finally finding the campground, thanks google for marking this hard.

A damp night and watching out for leeches , two making their presence known on my leg and John’s shoe we settled in for the night without our fire. We had got wood but forgot the lighter !!

Day 3

Down the mountain to Wingham, 45 kms of dirt road with muddy narrow roads. The van handling all roads .! But it will need a good clean when home.

The rain has set in so after lunch at Harrington it was home for the night.
