England 2025, Yorkshire Moors

We left Ripon and drove through Thirsk to Stokesley where we stopped for morning tea and the WC.

Then we went through the Yorkshire Moors to Hemsley. A scenic drive through the moors. The vegetation was thick and the road windy and hilly.

Hemsley was the next stop and we wandered around town, saw its ruined castle and enjoyed the lovely town.

Hutton le hole was next a cute town we just drove through and continue up into the moors.

Rosesale bank top was at the top of the drive up into the the moors and heather was everywhereand this is more what we had expected the Moors to look like.

Sheep were everywhere and even sleeping on the road

We walked across the top of the moors and saw the chimney block where mining and processing iron ore in kilns for 29 years finished 1885

That night we stayed at Kirbymooreside in a old corn mill converted to a B & B and walked into the town (15 mins ) to the pub for dinner.

Day 2

We drove through Pickering and stopped at Thornton le dale a small sweet town and onto the coast.

Next we drove to coast to the town of Filey , what a lovely spot, we walked the promenade and watched all people on the beach as the sun was out .

At the bay it was smooth water and the tide was going out.

Scarborough was next and we parked on the top headland and caught the little funicular down to the water and walked the promenade and back

Next was Robin Hood Bay but the sun had brought everyone out and there was no parking and a huge steep walk down, so it was onto Whitby,
