After crossing the border our first night was a bush camp.
Then on to Uluru for six days , an extra day added for reorganising our trip.
Western Australia has been postponed to another year the flies our main reason. England, Greece and Kaz in Turkey added the later two joining friends Di, Mick, Jackie and Mark. We will fly out of Darwin and do West Qld on the way home, originally planned for the during north but the floods preventing this.
Activites at Uluru included
Two walks at the Olgas. Valley of the winds walk to lookout 1 , John went on to lookout 2 and then the Walga gorge walk, both we had done before in 2019.
And the lookout to both the Olgas and the rock. Its indigeous name Kata Tjuta means plenty of heads. (above). The main rock is Olga and it over 546 high. Uluru can also been seen from the same lookout.
Uluru is taller than the tallest skyscraper in Sydney and is 348 m high.
Helicopter ride
In the afternoon we visited the camel farm and read some interesting facts about camels
Next tour
We did the segway tour at sunset. Although nervous to start we both handled the segways and enjoyed the tour around the rock.
Wintijiri Wiru show,
A drone and laser show based on the indigenous story of Marla.
It was good but to short but was padded out with drinks and a cheese platter. Photos were not allowed during the show.
So after lots of downtime planning our England trip, we left Uluru. Our first night a free camp at the Finke river .
Rainbow Valley
After driving to Stuart wells roadhouse and leaving the van there we drove 35 kms of bitamen and 29 kms of horrid sandy corrugations to arrive at Rainbow Valley Cons park formed 80 to 200 millions year ago when the land was warm and wet.

There were nests under the rocks belonged to small birds.
The flies were horrendous and made walking very unpleasant, this picture not showing really how many were around and on you.

Then back to Stuart wells roadhouse for the afternoon to research canal boats in England. The next day off to Alice Springs and north through the Macdonnell ranges.
