Oslo

After a days train trip where the scenery was mostly trees and lots of lakes we arrived in Oslo to find our accommodation just a few minutes walk from the train station. City box was a good stay , room adequate and the bonus was a laundry and just 200m from the train station and close to the city.

Day 2

A walk around the city starting with the car free street ( Carl Johans st) , the main shopping street and past the cathedral ,

parliament

university

and through a nice park which lead to the palace.

after the palace we headed towards the harbour with a detour into a cake shop with a stop for a lemon tart very yum!

Then through the modern area of town at the Bryggen (harbour) area.

This area was lovely with new apartment buildings, lots of boats, swimming area and loads of restaurants

then past the nobel prize museum and old fish market area along the harbour, past city hall shroud in scaffolding and past Afershus fortress and back to the hotel.

day 3

A slow start to the day and then the bus and tram out to Frogner park and the Vigeland sculpture park . The park has 200 granite and bronze sculptures mostly naked and designed by by Gustav Vigeland from 1863 to 1945. The sculptures feature different stages in life.

We walked back from the park 4:3 kms and over to the harbour to view the wooden saunas, skywheel and Opera house.

At night we did a 3 hour cruise into a fjord with a scrimp banquet, a lovely trip.

tomorrow we head to Flam.
