We arrived in Bergen and walked from the train station to our accommodation near the Harbour.
Day 2
We woke to a wet and cold day so we wondered around the wharf and Bryggen Harbour areas.

We visited the fortress tower of Bergenhus castle where fortress king magnus the lawmender ruled in1270 and rosenkrantz tower, we learnt about its only battle, the battle of vagen 1665.
In this battle where the dutch vessels seeking refuge in the bay were pursued by the english and the bergen fortress took sides with the dutch and the english had to flee.






then around the Hansetic quarter and its old wooden buildings.
Sighted st marys church took a photo but didnt pay to go in, just took a sneak photo.


After a great lunch we wandered the cobbled stone streets and came out at the monument park area and lake Lungegardsvarnett.






Then back to the hotel for cheese and biscuits.
Day 2
Another wet day we walked up to the Floinanen (funicular) which goes up to Mt Floyen , initially a clouded and wet view of Bergen but later an improved view.

We took the short walk to lake skomakersteun and sheltered their for another rain burst

and back down to Bergen.
When the rain eased for one hour we lugged the cases to the Hurtigruten terminal and after embarking the ship and dinner we left Bergen for our 12 day Norwegian Fjord cruise.
