We arrived at midday and found a great Shelplatz/ park . All facilities showers loos washing machines but car park style for 22 euro plus power and showers.
There is a bus into town but it is a poor service, only hourly, so we walked into town, 1.5 kms and found a bank and the info centre.
After a drink and early dinner in town we caught a taxi home.
Day 2
Hohenschwangau castle was our first sight seeing adventure. We caught the bus to the castle after walking into town. The castle was the family home of Ludwig 2 before building his own castle Neuschwanstein. It was typical german efficiency waiting to get into the castle, no entrance allowed till exactly 1 pm on a clock count down !!
It was nice inside but no photos were allowed.
Then after a partial walk along lake Alpsee and a beer we took bus into town for dinner and a walk around town.
The beautiful old church by the river in Fussen was lovely inside and out and we sat and had a wine near the river before the mandatory walk home. 13 kms and 19900 steps today.
Day 3
Not so well this morning on this cold windy day but no rain for a change. We opted for a 2 hr cruise/ferry on Lake Foggensee with the beautiful bavarian alps as the backdrop.
After lunch in the van we drove to St Coloman church for a view of the Neuwanstein castle. The church was old on the out side but beautiful inside,
and the view of the castle magnificent
Then with the wind now dropped we took the Tegelberg cable car up the mountain. At the top there is a walk out to the top of the mountain but the walk out to the cross was a definite No No so we had a beer and wander around enjoying the amazing views and watched three hand gliders take off.
To finish the afternoon off we went for a small explore around the local town of Schwangau.
Day 4
Off to Neuschwanstein castle, after parking in the carpark for 13.50 euro for the day, we are taking the bus to Marien bridge which is the photo spot for the castle. Then we toured the inside, no photos allowed again. This disney land castle was amazing.
This was followed by an afternoon of washing and a trial pack to see if everything fits in the cases to go home. Success!
