We arrived here on my birthday and had two weeks in Ulladulla staying in the holiday haven van park
We had a great site with double artificial grass which was ideal for putting up the annex with room on the site for both ours and Paul’s car when he arrived five days later. We were very close to the toilets, clothes lines, bins and dump point. The only issue the massive trees which on the few days of high winds was a bit scary with limbs falling. We moved the car to a safer spot for these two days.
Ulladulla is near where Johns sister lives at Mollymook, Paul joined us here for his holidays and is staying in the annex and Johns other sister Lynette,family and mum are coming for five days so a lot of our time will be family time.
Since we arrived on my birthday ( Friday 10 th July) it was a unexciting day for a birthday as most of the day was putting up the annex which took three hours after we had done the van set up first.
We did go out for my birthday to dinner at a Thai / Chinese restaurant with Leanne and Tony and the meal was really nice. And John even washed up for me on my birthday lol
Saturday is Leanne’s race day so we joined her at her house for an afternoon with the horse races on the tv. John who normally only backs losers surprised himself with a few winners but not a great profit but then out bets are small too.
The next three days were spent inside the annex, another jigsaw started and completed,
and as the weather had turned terrible with heavy rain and wind, it was good to find Johns repair job on the leaking awning roof was perfect and no more leaking through the stitching on the awning,so the annex will be dry as now Paul has arrived.
Activities over this fortnight involved the family but sight seeing included
Lake Conjola
The fires earlier this year saw this area lose a lot of homes, it is so sad but also weird to see one house gone and the house next door survive, such is nature.
Another pretty area with a lot of regrowth occurring on the trees but it was still obvious how burnt the trees and areas were.
Burrill Lake and Dolphin point
Lake Tabourie
This involved a walk along the creek to the beach point and we watched some men sailing their remote control sailing boats
Bawley point
Most of the south coast is gorgeous and so many bays, coves and beaches all with low level rock ledges extending out with the surf rolling onto the ledges.
Mollymook
The surf was huge and dangerous for a few days while we had a few days of rough seas. The photos below show both quiet and rough seas in this pretty spot and one photo is the view from Leannes house.
Ulladulla
Has a lovely harbour so one morning was spent walking around, stopping for a coffee near the fish market and into the town area. Some photos include views from a small walking track in the caravan park over the harbour, the view of the harbour from Lynette’s cabin. Down in the harbour area and local pool plus the blue tuna at the fish market and fishing boats.
Milton
A walk in the township where there is some old antique shops and lots of clothes shops, but just window shopped.
And lunch and wine at Cupitts Winery
Time in Milton also included a previous visit to the food markets held in the local showground. The food was nice but other wise it was a cold miserable day and nothing of interest was here other than lunch.
North of Ulladulla is
Bendalong
Another pretty Bay Area, known for its stingrays that hang around the beach and near the boat ramp waiting for off cuts when the fisherman clean their fish.
We were lucky to see them in the shallows , three small ones and one huge one.
the views over the Bennalong areas were delightful plus some photos also show the devastation of the fires earlier this year.
the area has some lovely murals as well , mostly on public toilet walls.
Sussex inlet
Here we caught up with new friends Gayle and Rob that we met in WA travelling in their bus.
We had a lovely lunch and catch up at their home plus a brief look around the area.
Gayle had made me a birthday cake as we were meant to be with them on my birthday so we had the cake with them on our day visit. it was a yummy baileys ice cream cake.
They have a lovely house on the canal area of Sussex inlet and a live a board cruise boat in the garage so hopefully down the track we will spend some time boating with them.
Plans have changed yet again
We are no longer heading south.
Covid has gone rampant in Victoria and the borders are closed and even parts of the south coast are experiencing cases. So the decision is to go north plus we now have to go and look after Johns mum back in Wyong as she has had two falls.
How long for to be determined, Leanne is doing the first two weeks while we go to Karuah for some of the rest of Paul’s holiday time with us.
Where to after this is yet to be decided , probably west Nsw or Qlds.?????
