We arrived in Kiama on Wed June 24th and spent the afternoon setting up at Kendall’s beach caravan park. We had a double site on ground mesh and a 30 second walk to the beach, not that it is warm enough to swim but a great site.
Thursday
We explored the Shell Cove, Shell Harbour area in the southern suburbs of Woolongong. We had lunch at the pub on the harbour foreshore.
Sight seeing included Minnamurra point Cathedral Rocks and Bombo beach areas.
We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping for the usual supplies
Friday
A day trip to explore the area south of Kiama starting with morning tea at the Mt Pleasant lookout, what an amazing view.
Gerringong
and boat harbour and the rock pools

Berry , a sweet town with lots of antique and quirky shops designed for the tourists.
Seven mile beach a area in the national park set up for campers and King Smith lookout (above, bottom left ) then back to Kiama to the small blow hole
Saturday
We walked from the caravan park at Kendall’s beach into Kiama’s Main Street precincts and past surf beach Saw the main blow hole rock pools and lighthouse. We had lunch in town and a look at the Heritage shops Then we walked back to the caravan park via the coastal walking path
Sunday
A Drive to Wollongong, the pictures below include

And on the way home to Kiama a stop at the Nan Tein Buddhist temple
Monday
Quiet day, John has a head cold and needed an inside day
Tuesday
A Drive to Jamberoo and surrounding valleys and mountains
first stop a walk to Jerrara Dam
Jamberoo and its historial pub plus some amazing valleys from the local lookouts.
then we drove into the Minnamurra rainforest centre but decided not to stay and do the walks it was cold and time was limited and the tree top walk was closed So onto more lookouts and Carrington falls followed by coffee at the tiny town of Robertson.
Then home via Macquarie pass with lots of hairpins corners and certainly glad not to have the van being towed behind us.
Wednesday
We went south and crossed the ranges via the kangaroo Valley road which was very windy and a slow drive with skinny roads and lots of 15 kph hairpins and even saw a wombat.
We stopped in kangaroo valley and walked around and took pictures of the 1845 Hampson bridge
Then North to Fitzroy falls and reserve
saw some amazing views of Kangaroo Valley from Manninga lookout
There is so much stunning country to see just south of Sydney if you take the time to explore
And home via Nowra and Crooked river winery but didn’t like anything enough to buy and it was quiet expensive.
We enjoyed our stay in Kiama, the coast and the mountains and valleys west and now it is further south and onto to Jervis bay and our caravan park at Huskisson. The white haven sands caravan park.
Via Shoalhaven Heads for morning tea
The caravan park at Huskisson is really nice with long bays for your van and car. After setting up we tour the area from Vincentia and the beaches south to Greenfield beach. Some beautiful scenery and white sandy beaches. The weather has been so much better since we arrived on the South Coast compared to our recent stays on the central coast and Port Stephens where it was very cold windy and constantly raining.
At Greenfield beach we took a short walk to the headland finishing at Chinamans beach In the Jervis Bay National Park.
Day 2 at Jervis Bay
A beautiful bay with many white sand beaches and coves truly beautiful. We walked the headland into Huskisson and around to the mariners museum. Huskisson is a pretty spot and the centre of the Jervis Bay area. Today is quiet cold with a breeze but the sun is still shining.
Over the next few days we will explore areas surrounding Jervis Bay
Our next day was spent heading towards the Beecroft Peninsula, a weapon range area not used at the moment, so the public are allowed in to explore. We stopped at honeymoon bay for lunch, a very cute cove on the peninsula.
also Point Perpendicular with an old 1898 lighthouse.
Many pretty spots along the way included
Currarong where we saw a seal lolling around in the water at Penguins Head Road Reserve
Callala Bay and beach
Myola which is across Currambene creek from Huskisson where a ferry takes people back and forward. A short trip by water but a much longer drive by road.
Day 4
We went into Nowra to shop at Aldi and also New Age Caravans to get supplies for a new roof hatch and new foot for one of the four caravan support legs, which are put down for stability when parked up….. more repairs again
Day 5
Sanctuary point and St George’s basin was the area we explored today, the bay has at lot of homes with absolute waterfront properties and the very occasional park or boat ramp to view the water
We also drove into the Booderee national park and stopped at Murray beach
and Hyams beach known for its whitest sand which was the morning tea stop. amazing to see a few kids braving the water as it is very cold today
Then after lunch off to Nowra for shopping for my birthday for some new pajama tops
Huskisson extension for two days
We were meant to go to friends at Sussex Inlet but Johns cold has come back and he is having a Covid 19 test, so we are staying put away from people in the van until we have the results. The results came back the next afternoon, negative so we headed off to Ulladulla a day early on my birthday hopefully we will come back to see Gayle and Rob at Sussex Inlet on another day.
