France 2026 , Central France …copy the Slaws with two pretty towns and Monets Gardens.

The next few days we are travelling to some small towns we saw on a u-tube by an English couple we follow sometimes.

We took the non toll roads going through lovely countryside and farmland

First town Gerberoy, ranked one of the most beautiful villages of France. Construction 15 th – 18 th C all the houses are timber and one of the oldest houses had stoneware tiles inlayed. All the houses were surrounded in roses and an old well was at the town hall. Unfortunately, we didn’t stay long as every cafe and restaurant was ferme! closed a common French thing.

Then after a stop at an the Intermarche getting a baguette for lunch plus other things we set off for Lyons-la- Foret.

A 15 min walk in from the campground we relaxed with a beer, had a wander round town and then discovered nothing was open for dinner so back to dinner at the parks cafe which was horrid. Mine was cheese and bits on a toast that had been frozen so a soggy mess with semi cold topping… gross!

John had mussells which were ok.

Lyons-la-Foret was a nice town

The next day was off to Monets Gardens and house. A long queue for tickets but the gardens was beautiful if not a little wild. His house had some pictures displayed.

The afternoon finished with a Drive to Rouen, we are now in Normandy. The port of Plaisance is our camp for the next 3 nights. new blog
