Clarence river oct 23

What a great river to explore. A wharf and pub at every stop. The whole trip 12 days.

We started at the Marina in Yamba for one night and then our boating began.

Next stop Harwood, a five minute walk to see the town and then lunch and dinner at the pub and a few games of pool..

A storm came in around 6 so we were glad to be on the inside of the wharf and protected from the waves and wind.

The sunset on the bridge was amazing.

LAWERANCE

We arrived before lunch and made our way to the pub for lunch a 10 mins walk away . We stayed on the wharf till late afternoon when the wind came up and we chose to anchor in the river rather than being banged against the wharf.

Ulmarra

A great little historic town with a expensive pie shop , book store and pub, a few other little shops that were closed today. A great wharf but unfortunately the wind again which caused us to move up river to find a shelter stop for the night. We missed out dinner at the pub and settled for cheese and biscuits for dinner.

We ended up a Susan island on the other side of Grafton.

After Susan Island we motor 25 kms past Grafton to

SEELANDS , a quiet spot not far from the ski grounds and we were surrounded by farmlands.

Grafton

We moored outside the Crown hotel, did some shopping and again indulged in lunch and dinner at the pub.

Ulmara

we went back to this lovely town and had lunch at the pub .

Brushgrove

A small mooring on the opposite side of the river from the pub. Here we met some other boaties Mick and Beth who we joined for drinks on board after dinner at the pub.

Maclean was next

A stop which included water and power. We shopped and walked around the town and had showers also provided by the town. Normally we use our on board shower of a hose in a bucket heated by gas. We used the pump out facilities and were amazed with the great facilities provided. Fish and chips on the wharf, tonight we didnt use the pub for dinner. We do cook on the boat but this trip was mostly about the river a, small towns and their pubs.

Back to Yamba for our last two nights , but we had a hairy trip back into Yamba with a storm and big waves causing our last hour in to be very rough and scary.

We walked around town , went to the plantaion pub on the headland with Johns cousin Ben. Dinner at the bowling club in town , a 2 km walk from the marina along the river.

Morning tea in town the next and looked at the shops and walked around the headland..

What great river for a boating . Relaxing, could of been better without the wind in the late afternoons but there was always a sheltered spot to be found. Great pubs and small towns.

We travelled 70 kms from Yamba to Grafton and then the extra 25 kms beyond before we returned to our staring point Yamba.
