We arrived at the Wankbahn camping station in the late afternoon.
On our way from Munich we went to the palace Lindenhof and got a brief relief from the rain to see the gardens and then just pre going inside the rain started again.
Inside the palace was very ornate and every expensive and gold plated everything. Built and lived in by Ludwig 2 while he built Neuschwanstein.
The mirror room gave reflections that made the room appear really long and the porcelain lights and candle holder just stunning.
then back into Ettal for a look at the town and the abbey. The abbey had a beautiful ceiling.
Our first morning in Garmish was to make enquires at the info centre and after a coffee and cake we booked both the Zugspritz and the Alpstritz cable car rides for 81 euro each . Expensive but it is the highest mountain in Germany. Then an afternoon at the van while washing dried after a long wait for the bus home. We had waited 1.5 hours for the bus and when he finally came he dropped us off at the bottom of the climb up to the Wankbahn , we weren’t happy.

Day2
A early bus into town and we still had to wait 1:5 hours for the train towards the Zugspritz. The sun has finally come out and there are no clouds so everyone is going up the mountain.
The trip up is first in a train , then you change at Grainau to the cog wheeled train which goes through the mountain and steeply up a tunnel to the first station where we walked around in the beautiful sun and admired all the bavarian alps and had lunch. Then off and up in the cable car to the top station, where the views were even better and overlooked towns more alps and the Eibsee lake.
The trip home was by a steep and fast cable car back to Eibsee lake then the cog train and train back to Garmish. The little farm huts were cute and really added to the scenery coming down the mountain.
There was very little snow on the mountain and it was not cold at all today , 4 deg yesterday and about 17 today.
Day 3
Alpspitz cable car is this mornings adventure with morning tea and a lovely walk around with the sun shining.
then onto see the olympic ski slope
and walk through the Partnachklamm gorge. The water barrels down a thin gorge with the walk way along the side with tunnels though the rock and the rest of the walk way on the gorge edge. Lots of dripping water and lots of people.
After a grea day it was more washing and a night in for cooking.
Now it is onto Austria.
