To Cape Range National Park , Exmouth and Coral Bay Nov 1st to 12th November.

This has been the nicest and most relaxed place since we started our amazing journey. After Onlsow we had a free camp overnight and then arrived at Exmouth. It was very windy the first few days with the wind picking up at night so the awning was taken down. It was flapping all night preventing us from sleeping and we were concerned the awning would tear.

Events in Exmouth included

  • Viewing the Harold Holt defence depot and VLF towers, which are low frequency towers used to communicate with submarines. The town of Exmouth became AmericanMilitary base in the mid 60s until 1992 and now it is an Australian contracted base.

  • The ss Mildura ship wreck

  • The lighthouse and views over coastline

  • The Ningaloo centre which gave the history of its American involvement, information about cyclone Vance and a huge Aquarium

  • Drove through the National park along the Charles Knife gorge, amazing gorges and scenery and stopped at the Krait and Potshot memorials.

  • Many days of amazing snorkeling wre at Lakeside and Turquoise Bay doing both the bay and the drift swims at Turquoiuse bay. The highlight the fish, coral and swimming with a turtle.

  • A boat cruise down Yardie Creek seeing 20 rock wallabies

  • A snorkeling trip to the Murion islands, with three snorkels one with soft corals, one of turtle beach swimming with lots of turtles and the last one lots of fish and hard boulders coral.

  • And our last day an amazing fishing trip catching our bag limit within two hours. I caught a 71 cm red emperor and needed help winding him in.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to go back another time. we saw wildlife, beautiful scenery and did some amazing snorkeling.

Coral Bay

Next was three nights in the small township of Coral Bay. Lots of relaxing and swimming and snorkeling across the road from the caravan park at Bills Bay.  A pretty town , very small but very expensive.
