Loing canal to the finish of France 2018

Loing canal 25/8/18 to 9/9/18 and the end of our French travels for 2018.

The Loing canal is short and only 49 kms and 19 locks. Often pretty in spots with the river close by.

We saw lots of fisherman, more bike riders and walkers going up and down the canal tow paths. The scenery had silos, house yards and lots of glimpses of the river system close by.

The canal started at Cepoy where we were given a clicker to manage the automatic locks. This makes progress quicker than the manual locks and no closures over the lunch hour.

Our stops and mooring on this canal were as follows.

Neronville, a quite rural setting where we did a 3.5 km bike trip to Chateau

Landon. The round trip ended up over 11kms giving the knees a real work out, partly as we missed the turn of the canal tow path by 2kms. A chateau and church and a quick walk around the town the photos below showing the scenes.

Back to our quiet mooring for a bbq.

Nemours

We had come here in our first 2 weeks on the boat with David, for a practice on entering small locks. So, we just had a quick walk around and caught up on some sanding and painting required on the front roof.

Moret-sur-loing.

This town also visited last time and but we can fuel up here to leave the tank full till next year.

Our blogs for France are finished now, we have a short trip down the Seine and then turn onto the Yonne to Migennes, Anjas place for winter. We will pass through towns mentioned at the start of our blog.

We will get back to Migennes on Sept 1st or 2nd, do lots of maintenance, we have discovered the shower has a major leak, dam!!!! This and winterising the boat will take the whole week.

We go to Paris for the night of the 9th, stay near the airport, fly out the 10th for Singapore for one night and home to Port Macquarie on the 13th of Sept. Two weeks will be spent catching up with appointments, the most urgent the hairdresser……can’t wait to see you Kim. We will see all the family and take off in our caravan for our trip to Western Australia in early October. Farewell France till June 2019.
